Running – Lace Up Your Running Shoes And Simply Run!

Still procrastinating about joining the gym? Don’t have the money? Why not consider RUNNING?

I just turned 43, and have been running for years. I ran track in High school, but then stopped after graduation. When I wanted to get into shape again, I began with the stationery bike and Stairmaster. After finding them very boring, I decided to buy a pair of running shoes, lace them up and enjoy a breath of fresh air. I started on a track and counted my laps. It’s much easier to put on the appropriate apparel go outside and start running, than to drive to the gym. When your exercise routine is convenient and simple it’s easier to stick with it.

As long as you have your running shoes, you can run any place, any time. Going to the gym is going to a designated location. With running, there is no designated location. You can simply run anywhere!

Part of the exhilaration is not thinking about where you are running, just being in the moment. The moment can be a thought in your mind, or a smell that reminds you of playing outside when you were a child. It can be a scenic view, or the warmth of the bright sun. It could be the crispness of a fall day, or your footprints on the newly fallen snow.

There’s nothing like the feeling you get when you run in a different state than where you live. New surroundings, different climate and new smells. Some of my most memorable runs were: Running off of the cruise ship in Bermuda, seeing the commuters on their scooters, with the brightly painted houses in the background, Running on the narrow paved roads with old, quaint houses in Canada, Running in Atlanta during the Olympics and Running in California on Thanksgiving Day with only a t-shirt and shorts.

While running you can always discover a new path, boardwalk, beach, road, track, or park. My favorite and most useful running gifts are my I-Pod and my pedometer. Nothing beats the sense of accomplishment after clocking your distance on a pedometer and running further because of the inspirational songs you’ve listened to. Sometimes it’s preferable to run without accessories. You feel lighter and it’s peaceful to be lost in your own thoughts.

Running is a Gift. Running is a mindset. The next time you want to exercise, Open your Mind and Open your Gift.

Men’s Running Shoes

Men and women have many differences and shoes are just one of them. A woman’s shoe isn’t merely a smaller version of man’s shoe. The design is different to allow for differences in the shape of the foot and weight applied to the heel.

Men’s running shoes are generally stiffer than women’s shoes. This allows for more support and motion control whereas women’s shoes tend to be a little more flexible.

For a long time, running shoe manufacturers specialized mainly in the construction of men’s running shoes and basically build scaled down versions for women.

In recent years however, many manufacturers have taken to designing running shoes specifically for women which take into consideration the differences in the build of women’s feet.

Since men of the same height tend to weigh more than women, men’s running shoes are designed to be tougher and have more cushioning in the sole to absorb the pounding caused by the additional weight.

The heels are typically designed to absorb shock of greater intensity. These extra features tend to make the shoe stiffer which adds additional support for the male foot, but which can make it hard for a female to move and flex naturally while wearing.

In general, the male foot has a broader forefoot than a woman’s. The female foot tends toward being angular.

The Nike Shox Running Shoes

This shoe is constructed with triple layers and provides great fit and optimal comfort. These layers allow the foot to breathe and the midfoot is given extra support from the lacing design.

The Adidas ClimaCool Running Shoe

This is another high quality men’s running shoe. It is constructed of breathable materials which are fast drying. The material provides for maximum ventilation from both sides and it has an antimicrobial lining which limits the bacterial growth and cuts down on odors.

This running shoe has a shock absorbing midsole with inserts and plates which reduce impact and protect feet. The rubber outersole is made from high traction rubber. The Adidas men’s running shoe is less expensive than the Nike Shox, it costs around $85 per pair.

The Diamondback Overdrive 29er gives a solid yet smooth ride through mud and over the roughest terrain. It is a bike that will make your job so much easier and taller, heavier folk will appreciate the extra legroom and shock capabilities. It compares very favorably with bikes at $700-900.

The Diamondback Overdrive 29er is manufactured from high quality materials and components making it very good value for money. The lock out fork is an extra value that is usually found only on bikes costing much more. You can use the solid suspension for street riding and more speed and turn the shocks on for the rough riding. A great feature normally seen on more expensive models. The 6 in. rotors on the disc brakes are a good benefit because they help to dispel rain, mud and dirt leading to more reliable and smooth stopping.

Something else to be aware of is that the brakes may become less responsive while you are breaking it in. This is quite normal in new bikes and simply means that the cables have stretched and/or their housings have bedded themselves into their correct position. All that is needed is the first tune up. A matter of adjusting the cables after the first 100-200 miles or the first two months, whichever comes sooner. The good news is that you can get a free tune up.

Our research threw up one complaint and that was that the lockout fork is not always up to standard on really rough ground or with real heavy use. While this issue is valid it does not apply to the majority of riders. Another comment that is worth mentioning although it is obvious when you think about it and that is the weight of the bike. It is proportionally heavy to its size so it should not be a problem as the bike is so free running but may be worth your consideration.

All in all, this bike is represents good value for money and the majority of owners are very happy with their purchase. This bike can be bought through several online stores like Amazon.com for $499. However, I have only found one place in the US that gives a FREE warranty tune-up for the same price.
